During transitory periods in weather conditions we also have to deal with the changes in our skin. Exposed alternatively to the outside cold and the inside heat, our skin may become a little confused... the capillaries - which are the tiny blood vessels close to the surface - are frequently either dilating (becoming larger when blood rushes in) or contracting (when they become smaller because of the cold). Very often we find ourselves with bright red faces, which is cute when you are about seven years old, but ... now, it can damage our skin greatly, if we don’t do something to prevent it.
Firstly, when you get a facial treatment for hydration and desensitization, you should try specialized massage for red, inflamed skin. Great solutions for such skin conditions are the pressure point massage and the manual lymphatic drainage massage.
In the pressure point treatment the aesthetician applies finger pressure to specific points along oriental meridians. Each point is held for at least three seconds. The pressure point massage helps improve circulation, balance the skin and reduce stress.
The manual lymphatic massage is used to treat puffy eyes, acne, rosacea and skin irritations. It is excellent, as well, in pre and post cosmetic surgery, because it aids in the healing process.
Secondly, it is important that these massages incorporate the use of specialized products like: INTRAL SERUM (pressure point massage), CAMOMILE or ROSE AROMATIC OIL (for the lymphatic drainage massage) and INTRAL CREAM and INTRAL BALM as a finishing treatment cream, at the end of the facial. All these products contain soothing active ingredients and are great for redness and also help strengthen the walls of capillaries.
Ask your aesthetician for the best soothed treatment for you and the most effective homecare regime!

Image enhancement tips
Personal image is always a popular topic among women, because we all want to look our best, at all times! Thankfully, there is make-up... without which, even a supermodel may look like she could use some help! The reality is that when it comes to make-up the power is in the quality of the product but the success resides in the application technique.
Let’s review some basic rules that we can use safely, keeping in mind that we have to focus first on creating a flawless complexion, and then, adding any color (eye shadow, lipstick, and blush) will become optional, depending on the occasion. What is a must, though, is the mascara and lip gloss or lip balm!
1. For best results prep your skin by exfoliating and applying proper moisturizer.
2. Choose a foundation appropriate for your skin type:
a. if your skin is dryer, choose a cream foundation or a hydrating one;
b. if your skin is oilier and/or you break out, choose a foundation that is more matte and even controlling the production of sebum (oil).
Darphin Make-Up line has a selection of foundations - Mattefying, Soothing and Hydrating - each containing skin-care grade ingredients formulated to treat the skin as well as to offer coverage for a smoother, more luminous complexion.
You can apply foundation with your fingers or you can use a brush or a sponge, whichever way you feel comfortable. Just make sure it is the right color (tip: try matching it to your jaw line and not to the center of your face, which is typically darker).
3. Use concealers or correctors to neutralize unwanted discolorations, such as dark circles under the eyes, blemishes or broken capillaries.

4. Next, remember to use the translucent face powder that needs to be applied with a big powder brush. The purpose of this powder is to set the foundation and concealers so that we can look great even after several hours.
Now that our skin is flawless, to create a day-look, or a no-makeup-day-look, we can just add some mascara, maybe a bit of light eye shadow, lip balm and we are set for the day!
Try this and you will be amazed! It is simple and very effective!
Good luck!

Acne... what a drag!
We all know how it feels to wake up in the morning and, first thing we see is that red, unsightly, painful bump on our face, called PIMPLE.
Unfortunately, acne can appear at any stage in life and is always annoying. However, it should be treated differently, depending on the age: in adult acne we have to be careful not to dehydrate the skin too much, by mostly working on exfoliating the skin - so dead cells won’t clog the pores trapping bacteria inside - and also on penetrating active ingredients that affect the bacteria growth and its environment.
Thankfully, researchers constantly look for solutions in this area, by focusing on eliminating the cause as opposed to just treating the effects. I have to say that personally, I had very good results with the New PUREACNE OXYGEN Line from GM Collin. It was such a relief!
Bacteria causing acne doesn’t like oxygen; this is why this technology is so effective. This particular clinical and home treatment, combined with in-spa facials that included extractions, cleared my skin, reducing inflammation in acne pimples and controlling future breakouts and overall sebum production. The 2% Salicylic Acid, the Glycolic and Lactic Acid from this formulation, plus the Oxygen Complex, normalized, detoxified and hydrated in depth, giving back to my skin its natural radiance and glow. The skin became luminous, moisture balanced and younger looking!
So, don’t panic! There are solutions to adult acne, and you don’t have to be afraid of scars after extraction (when done correctly redness disappears very soon) or severe dehydration that could lead to lines and wrinkles. Let’s just work on the bacteria causing acne, and you’ll notice its beneficial effects fairly soon.
Good luck!

Post-summer skin care
I hope you all had a wonderful summer, filled with lots of sunshine (sunshine received in other parts of the world not here, in rainy Toronto L)... As we all know, the sun rays, especially the UVA, have lots of beneficial qualities (ex: it is a natural antioxidant that fights free radicals, I just read this!), taken in small quantities. But the sun rays are also dangerous (I will write about that in more detail another time) and have a dehydrating effect on our fragile skin. Dehydration will lead to fine lines and later wrinkles, as dehydrated skin ages faster than a well maintained one.
What can we do? How could we recuperate our suppleness now that the summer is over?
Well, to start with, we can do an exfoliation or a scrub with a gentile (granule free) type of exfoliant. You can do that at home with the “Mild Aroma Peel” from Darphin or “Gommage 305 or 303” from YonKa, or you can have it done professionally, by a trained aesthetician, as part of your monthly facial (don’t worry if you haven’t had monthly facials, there is still time and scrubs do work marvellously in getting rid of those superficial skin cells that are just hanging in...). Continue by applying a hydrating serum followed by a few drops of Rose Aromatic Oil and finish with Hydraskin Light or Hydraskin Rich Cream depending if you have a dryer or combination type of skin. If you prefer to use YonKa, you can go with Dermol 1 or 2 or 3 followed by Creme 28, or use the Optimizer Creme and Fluid combo for an extra antiaging effect.
Don’t forget about using your Hydrating Mask regularly! Whichever way you choose to go you will find that your skin improves drastically, becoming more smooth and supple, radiant with a natural glow.
Good luck!
